x-model: User's Guide

Menu commands

Almost all commands from the main menu are self-explanatory. Two menu commands should be elaborated. Some x-model’s program preferences can be changed using File | Preferences from the main menu. These changes are mostly cosmetic customisations such as changing the font type and its size, toolbar appearance and tab stop intervals. Nevertheless, users can specify the locations where the data, output and weather files are usually located. This simplifies and provides a faster access to these files because users need not traverse the file directory system each time to find files that are usually located in the same place. Please note that specifying where the data or weather files are located does not mean x-model would automatically load data from the files there. Users must still explicitly open a model data file, and give the full pathname of the weather file to use.

Users would usually use the Data Tree to view, enter and change the model data in a form of a tree with expandable and collapsible branches. Alternatively, users can view the model data as it appears in its data file using the menu command: Data | View Raw. A dialog box will appear showing the actual form of data saved in the file, but this data is read-only. The Data Tree must still be used to change the model data.
